APA 2004 – Strong interest for mature parts of the NCS

-The large number of applications for awards in predefined areas confirms the continued great interest in mature parts of the Norwegian continental shelf. We have received applications from a wide variety of companies. It is positive that both established and new companies, as well as large and smaller companies are interested in mature areas, says Thorhild Widvey, Minister of Petroleum and Energy.

-The interest shown proves that the Norwegian continental shelf continues to be both attractive and competitive, and that the international oil and gas industry finds it an interesting arena for investments in exploration and production. The applications provide a sound basis for future exploration in mature areas of the continental shelf, says Minister Widvey.

The authorities have received applications from 22 oil companies for the Awards in Predefined Areas (APA) 2004 on the Norwegian continental shelf. The companies have applied as individual companies and in groups.

The companies that have submitted applications are: Altinex Oil AS, Amerada Hess Norge AS, A/S Norske Shell, BG Norge AS, ConocoPhillips Skandinavia AS, DNO AS, DONG Norge AS, Esso Norge AS, Gaz de France Norge AS, Lundin Norway AS, Marathon Petroleum Norge AS, Eni Norge AS, Norsk Hydro Produksjon a.s, OER oil AS, Paladin Resources Norge AS, Pertra AS, Revus Energy AS, Ruhrgas Norge AS, RWE Dea Norge AS, Statoil ASA, Talisman Energy Norge AS and Total E & P Norge AS.

The Ministry's aim is to award new production licenses in the APA 2004 in December 2004.
